ASU’s Biodesign clinical testing lab team has developed an automated system to test for COVID-19 using just plain saliva samples. It is testing hundreds of people daily from around the state. Two ACE doctoral students have been lending their expertise for months since the project began: Valerie Harris runs the PCR testing of samples and trains new members of the expanding team and Zach Compton works in sample receiving and quality management while also training new team members. Well done both of you! For more information, see https://biodesign.asu.edu/research/clinical-testing
Meanwhile, ACE’s Paul Davies, led a virtual workshop ‘Beyond COVID-19: Modeling Sustainable Exit Strategies’ in collaboration with the California cyber-security company Moogsoft, to look at how the study of networks can help us break up virus transmission pathways and open up the world again more safely.
