ACE’S Professor Trevor Graham has been elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in the UK. This is the citation:
“Trevor Graham, Professor of Genomics and Evolution at the Institute of Cancer Research, is a pioneer of cancer evolution research, and of efforts to derive a mathematical understanding of how tumours develop, progress and respond to treatment. He led efforts to develop a mathematical understanding of the dynamics of cancer evolution, being the first to suggest that genetic heterogeneity in cancers is explained by neutral evolution. He has used lineage-tracing methods, based on the analysis of somatic mutations, to infer the biology of human gastrointestinal tissues in vivo, providing quantitative measurements of stem cell and whole colon crypt evolution and provided the first evidence of intestinal crypt fusion in humans.”
Congratulations Trevor – you make us all very proud!
